a lot of it was super cliché, but I was also into cliché rom-com anime and such (I think my favorite was Ouran High School Host Club lol), so I guess maybe that's why they appealed to 14-year-old me.
I just played one yesterday, and they don't hold up too badly I guess?
i'd say the otome scene has come quite a long way since then!
would you say this was around the first wave of otome games in the west, when they were just starting to get popular? This was around the time RE: Alistair came out and that was the first English otome I played. Then there were a lot of Renpy games, and games from the company that made Date Warp and the company that made Alway Remember Me. More people are interested in localized Japanese otome, myself included.yesssssss I'm a huge Cheaty Mc Cheaterson so I was so glad when I found out I could use cheats in these games.
yeah, i think part of why i really liked her games was that there weren't many other games like this (that i knew of), so this was a new and interesting game type i'd never experienced before.
although, truth be told, i cannot for the life of me remember how i even discovered these games in the first place 😁Same I have no idea where I found her games x D I just remember looking around online for girl flash games and low and behold.
But now I can definitely see all the tropes she used hehe An otome game is a visual novel that mainly targets the female audience (otome gēmu means Maiden Game).
Those no-fun prudes would barely go near each other unless it involved making a baby.I'm terrible with names so I don't remember which one it was, but I remember liking it :)Yes~ I love Pacthesis games.Even though there isn't a whole lot of character development in the earlier games, I've enjoyed all of them. Toko series, and it's actually really well thought out, and references the other games she's made.yeah, I agree with you on the whole character development thing.I remember back when I was in my early days of high school and just discovering otome games, I would often play these little flash games made by a deviantartist named Pacthesis.Looking back on them now, they're fairly simple compared to the later otome games I've tried, but I still really really liked them at the time!
